About the Author

Hello. I'm Mark Zetter. For more than 25 years I've run a boutique consultancy in the global contract electronics manufacturing services (EMS) industry. I started my EMS industry career with Flextronics (NASDAQ:FLEX) when the company was $400 million annual revenues, leaving when revenues hit $7 billion annual.

I then worked for a venture-backed, tier-4 global EMS provider with operations in Silicon Valley, Eastern USA, Europe and Asia before starting Venture Outsource LLC where I was fortunate to land several enterprise consulting firms as clients. After working behind the scenes for a few years I took my firm’s consultancy - consisting of a small team of EMS industry operations and finance professionals - direct to electronic original equipment manufacturing (OEM) companies.

Over the many years working as a management consultant I’ve enhanced my multi-factor, root cause analytical skills creating a distinguished client track record based on proprietary technology solutions and asking the right questions.

For subscribers, my goal is to continue to apply this same problem-solving and breaking down of EMS industry best practices vs practices common in industry. My objective here is to provide thoughtful insights and business analysis based on the manifestation of decades of lateral thinking, helping newsletter subscribers see through the hype, myths and falsehoods present in a 'gray sea' of EMS industry provider services and the larger, emerging industrialization landscape on the horizon.

This type of publishing platform is new to me and will be a work-in-progress, so any suggestions or feedback is welcomed.

If you are familiar with my writing and my consultancy you already have a good idea about the topics I write about. But for those not familiar with my work, see examples of content published on my consultancy website ventureoutsource.com. The Venture Outsource website publishes more top quality content relevant to contract electronics sourcing strategy than any other resource or industry subscription newsletter online or in print, research firms or intelligence databases.

My Venture Outsource website is also a qualified Google news source and is included in the online network of Centers for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), created by the US Congress as part of the Omnibus Foreign Trade and Competitiveness Act. CIBER helps internationalize teaching and research at 15 business graduate schools across the United States.

The ventureoutsource.com site is also included in globalEDGE, the global business knowledge portal connecting international business professionals to a wealth of information, insights, and learning resources on global business activities. globalEDGE is a gateway to specialized international business research knowledge on countries, cross-border business transactions, and cross-cultural management.

Some articles I write are also indexed by Google Scholar, an openly accessible web search engine indexing scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines. My analysis and writings have been attributed in academic papers and industry reports, supply chain abstracts, manufacturing operations research, and court opinions. You can view some sample citations here.

I’m also active on Linkedin where I run the Official Global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) Industry Group. You can message me at insight@ventureoutsource.com, on Linkedin or through my consulting website here.

Subscribers to my newsletter will be notified every time I publish to this platform. If you want to be notified when I post new content, please subscribe here.

INsight is an independent newsletter. Most of the content is free to all subscribers, but some posts are reserved to paid subscribers only. You can sign up for a paid subscription now or at any time in the future — the cost is just $24 a month or $219 a year.

I appreciate all paid subscriptions. Paid subscribers have mentioned they don't mind most content here is freely available, they want to support the newsletter. If you feel differently, please let me know. I like receiving feedback from readers and would consider making more content paid-only if this is what paid subscribers prefer.
